Erectile dysfunction seized in Glengormley

8 April 2011

Large quantities of unlicensed medicines have been seized by Department of Health officials during a search of a home in Glengormley.

A man was interviewed by department officers about unlawfully importing and consequently providing unlicensed impotence medicines via the web.

The 47-year-old was likewise questioned about other medicine offences.

He will now be the subject of a report to the general public Prosecution Service.

The search was carried out by the department's Medicines Regulatory Group.

Its senior enforcement office, Peter Moore, stated: "It is important that we get the message across that unlicensed medicines can be dangerous.

"These types of products being sold, typically online, have actually undergone no quality control and there can be no warranty about their safety.

"You simply do not understand what you are taking or the conditions these products were made in. More significantly, you do not understand the impact drugs like this may have on your health."
